MEXICO TOUR WITH RØYST OCTOBER AND NOVEMBER 2007:
Røyst did a tour project comprising charity based engagements for the cultural community organization Transformarte in Tijuana, Mexico. Røyst performed in the gala show put on at Casa de La Cultura and carried out workshops with focus on improvisation, singing and freeing of the voice for local communities in the city. They also appeared on various radio and TV shows at Sintesis TV, Fusion IMER Radio and XEWT12 TV.

June the 17th 2007: In workshop and concert with the vocal quartet Røyst consisting of Kari N. Bleivik, Cecilie Giskemo, Therese Ulvan and Maria Jardardottir at The Packhorse in Leeds. The quartet performs original material for and with the voice only.

Røyst will do a two hour workshop looking at improvisation and other fun things for people who like to sing and who are interested in broadening their vocal horizon and boost their confidence in a friendly and sharing environment. The main focus will be on playfulness and inspirational exploring of the voice as an instrument capable of doing more than singing melodies. It is a workshop open to anyone with or without previous experience with utilizing their voice beyond the day to day use.

The workshop starts at 17.30 and last until 19.30 pm and costs £10 students / £15 full price – this will also include a ticket for the concert which starts at 8 pm. Separate tickets for the concert only are at £3/£4.

June the 6th 2007: Røyst / with Iain Ballamy and LIMA sax quartet + Ballamy/Strønen:
A very special and exciting triple bill concert event that will be put on twice as part of this tour: Røyst is debuting an original collaboration project they have initiated with the English saxophonist and composer Iain Ballamy and a LIMA (Leeds Improvised Music Association) saxophone quartet consisting of Tom Leaper (alto saxophone), Petter Frost Fadnes (alto saxophone), Chrisophe de Bezenac (tenor saxophone) and Simon Kaylor (baritone saxophone).

Three of Røyst’s members have each written original compositions in the vein of Røyst’s expression and sound wherein they have combined the elements of improvisational tasks and thoroughly composed segments to form an exciting and energetic platform for the fusing of voice and saxophone. And, they are also employing the instrumentalists as vocalists.

This collaboration project will be premiered as part of a triple bill concert evening at The Wardrobe in Leeds the 6th of June where Iain Ballamy firstly will do a set in duo with the Norwegian drummer and percussionist Thomas Strønen. This will be a truly unique duo performance by the two core members of “Food”. Secondly Røyst will do a set in their usual quartet format and lastly a set with the collaboration project will culminate the evening.

October 2004: Røyst spent two weeks in Leeds, England, recording material for their first official CD release, Nordic Initiative. July 2004: Røyst opened Molde International Jazz Festival, Norway, being the first band in the official opening program Monday the 12th of July. They had two more concerts at the festival.

June 2004: Røyst toured Minnesota and North Dakota USA for three weeks. The tour was supported by Norsk Jazzforum (Norwegian Jazz Forum) and AMSCAN (American Scandinavian Foundation) - to whom Røyst is deeply grateful. They performed at:
