The group is now booking gigs and workshops for 2008 and 2009, if you want to book them, then get in touch.
Future:
December 8th - 19th 2008: "Voice musician Maria Jardardottir and dancer and choreographer James E. Jackson Hawkins recently founded an original and experimental collaboration duo where they both cross each others’ boundaries as creators and performers in their respective art forms and meet in an expression where the body and the voice is their mutual, one instrument: The dancer utilizes the voice and expresses himself musically just as much as the musician, and the musician utilizes the body and expresses herself through movement just as much as the dancer. The work has a wide spectre of influences: memories, images, journeys, soul searching, the safe versus the unstable and a questioning of the individual’s comfort zone and boundaries." The collaboration’s first piece was titled "Accepted, Division, Unity, Taboo".
James and Maria have been commissioned to create a piece for the graduate dance company EDGE and their tour program for 2008/2009 at The Place in London. The artist will be working in residence with a small group of dancers within the company to create the piece.
Venue: The Place, London, England.

March the 8th 2007: The NCM room presents: SO FRACAS + Post War Years + Curious Voice Duo:
- O Fracas:
O Fracas formed and live in Leeds. Alex and Ben have known each other since school. They argued then, they argue now. It's part of the writing process; a fight with an amicable outcome. They found Jim wandering about the moors one day. Luckily social services hadn't got to him yet, so they took him in as one of their own. No one really knows where he's from, but its just one of those mysteries of life.
"O Fracas are a strange, but captivating young band... agitated and complex... exciting... catchy weirdo pop-rock... It's not commercial, but intelligent, ambitious and deserves to carve a niche for itself." - WHISPERIN AND HOLLERIN.COM, 8/10.
Ben - vocals, guitar, Alex - guitar, vocals, Jim drums and Matt - bass, vocals.

- Post War Years:
Post War Years start jumping around at the sound of a horn sound. It's just what happens when you are that startled. They all went to different schools in Leamington Spa in the middle of England - then they started making fun with old organs and samplers and powerful 'electric' guitars. This fun is now available to hear at gigs and concerts across the world wide world. They have been slowly stitching it right on the button.
Simon vocal, guitar, organ, Henry vocal, guitar, samples, Tom vocal, bass, Fred drum and drums.

December the 6th 2006: A double bill concert with Mz Sojourn and Melatonin:
Mz Sojourn is a Leeds based trio playing joyously dark and quirky songs mixed with wild and murky improvisation. They describe their music to sound like a big heap of moving junk clanging and banging together with people trapped inside. Or like dreamy tunes, discordant unstructured noise, tribal opera, trashy punk, fat bassy dance tunes, junky blues and tantruming witches.
“If you've seen us months ago you might see a very different band now. We change as much as our moods change - get us when we're in a bad mood, that’s the best!”
Chloe - bass/guitar/vocals, D vocals/guitar/violin and Sach drums/bin lid.

Maria Jardardottir's electro acoustic solo project, Melatonin, is founded on exploring her own voice as the only sound source. October the 25th 2006: Paul Hession at 50 with guests: Paul Hession was invited to curate his own celebration (!) and he chose to rekindle an old collaboration that first started back in the 80's. The duo with Jeffrey Morgan is two old friends getting together to mull over various issues...... Reeds and percussion is a well established duo format that lends itself to animated discourse and these two should provide a tasty aperitif. (Sorry about the mixed metaphor).
Furthermore he invited two more ensembles to join in and contribute with each their act:
- Curious Voice Duo:
“… Elisabeth Nygaard and Maria Jardardottir introduce themselves. What follows is quite simply the most spine-tingly beautiful and DIFFERENT collection of sounds I have ever witnessed. Orgasmic hiccups, groans, whispers, tongue-clicks/pops: the shrieks of climax. Absolutely sublime!" - Jamie Stephenson, Sandman Magazine.
- Conquistador:
Conquistador is a six piece improvising band that comprises two saxophones, guitar, keyboards, bass and drums. The band is led by Leon Johnson who, in addition to playing tenor saxophone, runs a well known bar in Leeds. Conquistador play a spontaneous melodic and groove based music that runs the gamut from pure abstraction to straight ahead...
The other members of the band are: Pete Williams alto saxophone, Stephen Barnett guitars, Tarek Modi fender rhodes, Dave Kane bass and Paul Hession drum set.
In other words this will be a great and energetic party!
Venue: The Wardrobe, St Peters Square, Leeds, England. Time: 20:00. Tix: £7/5. The performance is open to the public.

October the 24th 2006: Outward Sound Ensemble is Chris Meloche (prepared table-top guitar and treatments) and Herb Bayley (cornet, trombone, trumpet and percussives). The Canadian duo is touring UK in October 2006 and has invited along some local Leeds-based improvisers, there amongst a couple of LIMA members, to contribute to their performance in Holy Trinity Church in Leeds Tuesday the 24th of October. Contributions from LIMAs Paul Moore (double bass) and Maria Jardardottir (voice).
Since meeting in 1988, Herb Bayley and Chris Meloche have received local, national and international praise for their work on a wide variety of innovative artistic projects. In 2002, they launched their latest sonic venture the Outward Sound Ensemble (OSE). The OSE create completely immersive experiences by transporting audiences with their highly original, organic, flowing and often otherworldly atmospheres. Explorations with dance, poetry, new media, live environments, theatre and film are a natural extension of the Ensemble's work.
"... the result of an evolving Transatlantic collaboration... makes for a heady, slightly fugitive sound that interacts with Ambient noise and physical processes to create a very intimate, introspective atmosphere that never stops reshaping itself, making for an impressive release..."
- Brian Morton on the CD release "Thunder in a Clear Sky", The Wire, May 2006.

April the 28th 2006: Soiled and The Geordie Approach.
“- Soiled: adjective: Covered or stained with or as if with dirt or other impurities”
Soiled springs out of the collaboration between the two Norwegians, guitarist Tore Hovde and voice musician Maria Jardardottir running back to 2002. The present concept Soiled can be seen as a duo project that also at times features additional musicians, - such as for instance the brilliant and versatile Norwegian drummer Ståle Birkeland who will join them for this concert.
Soiled performs original music; semi-composed, free and guided, and is largely drawing upon the compilation of song-based material of Jardardottir as well as Hovde’s tuneful and ambushing pieces. The influences on their material can be found under a wide-ranging and colourful umbrella covering extended instrument techniques and noise exploration, contemporary jazz harmony, folky and catchy melody lines, dark and saucy moods and grooves, thoughtful lyrics or thoughtful absence of lyrics and a sparse use of electronics.
This is in essence the simplistic storytelling and melodic singer/-songwriter idea meeting filthy as well as delicate improvisation and the sound of dirty rock riffs. An experimental collaboration where the traditional roles of each instrument are neatly appreciated as well as eagerly stomped on.
This is a joint concert with the trio The Geordie Approach consisting of Chris Sharkey (guitars), Ståle Birkeland (drums/percussion) and Petter Fadnes (alto saxophone). This trio creates music within loose improvisational structures, pursuing ideas with sizeable creative space to function as effective catalysers for improvised music. The musical elements are often contradictory in shape, moving between melody and noise, ambient grooves and abstract textures, where the three musicians are prepared to include the broadest range of musical flavour to achieve their musical goals.
The concert is presented by LIMA (Leeds Improvised Music Association). Venue: The Packhorse, 208 Woodhouse Lane (near the University), LS2 9ES, England. Phone: +44 (0)113 2453 980. Time: 20: 00. Tix: £3. The performance is open to the public.
