| This is another piece where free improvisation, in conjunction with what I call a pre-talked guideline, is our main tool. Nygaard’s concept idea for this piece was the ostinato in five that works as a frame for the piece. Everything else happening is cheer improvisation. It turned into a very rhythmic piece and it naturally developed into something that might be seen as a set of three sections. In the first one, the ostinato is presented and used as point of departure for the improvisation. Gradually the ostinato is abandoned and a middle section of other rhythmic figures and interesting sounds is taking place. Then, in the last section the ostinato is brought back and again used as core for the improvisation. - Maria Jardardottir |
